It’s going to be a spectacular weekend here in Virginia Beach as the city hosts two Memorial Day festivals sure to start the summer off right.
The festivities get rolling on the evening of Friday May 24th as Virginia Beach kicks off the holiday weekend with live music all along the ocean front. With live entertainment on three outdoor stages including music from different styles and eras, there is something for everyone! Original essays written by local high school students are reproduced on four by eight foot banners easily read by passers-by. These essays describe the military conflicts in which the United States has been involved throughout history. They help to remind us of the price that has been paid and is still being paid today by the United States military.
Next is the Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival comes to the festival grounds at 1776 Princess Anne Road in southern Virginia Beach. This celebration of Virginia’s farming heritage is filled to the brim with live music, exhibitions, pig racing, dog shows, and of course… PIE EATING CONTESTS! In its’ 30th year, the Strawberry Festival draws 120,000 attendees or more to this annual favorite.
