34th Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival

34th Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival
May 27th - 28th
FoxNews.com ranked this festival as
#3 America's Best
Spring Food Festival!

Nothing signals the start of summer like fresh-picked strawberries, and Virginia Beach’s Annual Pungo Strawberry Festival is the perfect way to welcome the warm weather. The city's kick off to the Memorial Day Weekend is with this family friendly country fair. The highlight of the festival is, of course, an abundant supply of scrumptious strawberries straight from the fields of Pungo. More than 50 food vendors will do their best to tempt the taste buds with an assortment of strawberry pies, tarts, shortcakes, jellies & jams.

Along with a variety of other foods and non-alcoholic refreshments, visitors can enjoy a pie eating contest, strawberry bake-off, an old fashion hometown parade, live entertainment and popular local bands on 3 stages, one of the largest carnivals on the east coast, livestock show and sale, pig races, 4-H exhibits, pony rides, a race car display, a multi-million dollar military equipment displays, 100+ arts and crafts vendors including a youth art show, and much more!

This festival has grown over the decades from nearly 50,000 in 1983... to its present size of over 120,000.  Admission is free, and all proceeds are donated to community and civic service groups.  Festival organizers are proud to have returned over $600,000 to the community thus far, and this doesn't include all the money raised by community groups on site. Be sure to visit the Charity United Methodist Church Youth Group who will have a "Strawberry Taco Stand". It's one of the most popular stops for festival goers! Our fearless leader at Siebert Realty (and of the youth group), Patrick Keenan, will be helping the kids serve up the tasty treat, so be sure to stop by, say hello, and try one! They're soooo good!

The festival will be held May 27-28, 2017 in the heart of the Pungo community at Princess Anne Road and Indian River Road from 9am to 7pm each day. For more festival info, call 757-721-6001 or visit their website at: Pungo Strawberry Festival

During WWII, dances were arranged and held in airplane hangars as fundraisers for the war effort. Take a step back in time and join us for this great museum event.

Need help on the dance floor?
Swing Virginia members will be attending the event to teach the vintage styles of swing dance. This local group teaches several styles including lindy hop, east coast swing, the jitterbug, and more! http://www.swingvirginia.com

The Military Aviation Museum is home to one of the largest private collections of World War One and World War Two era military aircraft in the world. Each has been beautifully restored to its prior military condition, using original parts whenever possible. Most of the planes are airworthy and flown at the museum during flight demonstrations and at air shows throughout the year.

The museum is constantly growing as they add new aircraft and aviation-related ground equipment to their collection. Come often and share their love for military aviation history. Take a personal tour with one of the many volunteer docents who are well-versed in the personal history of each aircraft.  Attend monthly hangar talks, semi-annual air shows, and many other special events throughout the year.
