Virginia Beach Spring Craft Market

28th Annual Virginia Beach Spring Craft Market
March 14-16, 2014
Friday & Saturday 10am-6pm
Sunday 10am-5pm

The Virginia Beach Spring Craft Market features over 150 fine artists and craftspeople from across the nation offering fine arts, handcrafted jewelry, wood, glass, photography, candles, woven baskets, clothing, toys, folk art and specialty foods. Exhibitors introduce new lines and special accessories for the home and garden including wrought iron, welcome wreaths, garden statuary, birdhouses, outdoor furniture, pottery and wind chimes.

Meet the artisans, learn the stories behind their work and shop for the best in fine arts and fine crafts - from simple to lavish - you'll find one-of-a-kind creations for every budget.

A long-time customer said: "I found beautiful art work for my home, unique stepping stones for my garden, cute accessories for my daughter's room, a gift of jewelry for my friend and the perfect scarf for my mother for Mother's Day." Each piece is a creation from the skilled hands of an American craftsperson. Each purchase supports the history and tradition of true American craftsmanship.

Heritage Celebration!
In addition, Heritage Celebration!, an area of educational demonstrations by local craft designers and guilds, has been a huge success since its premier presentation in 1997. See and interact with local craft guild members in the gallery. These gifted artisans will demonstrate the techniques and skills used to produce quality American-made crafts. Live demos include: knitting, spinning, sewing, beadwork, quilting, woodcarving and wood turning just to name a few. Bring the kids and let them watch a crafter turn a simple slab of clay, block of wood, or skein of yarn into a stunning and functional work of art.

March is National Craft Month!
Be sure to check out the “You Make It! Craft Central” areas. Join in and try your hand at several projects being offered for the first time during the event!

Boardwalk Art Show

June 14 - 17, 2012

The Boardwalk Art Show and Festival, presented by SunTrust, is one of the oldest and best outdoor fine art shows on the Eastern seaboard, and this year will mark our 57th year. For more info, visit www.boardwalkshow.com.
The show is consistently ranked in Sunshine Artist Magazine’s Top 50 fine art Shows. With an average attendance each year or more than 200,000, this four-day festival is one of the most popular in Virginia, attracting collectors and artists from across the nation. The show runs along the Virginia Beach boardwalk from 17th Street to 32nd Street, overlooking the sandy beach and Atlantic Ocean.

The History of Boardwalk Art Show
In 1952, a small group of artists presented an outdoor art show at the boardwalk, with the proceeds benefiting a fellow artist who had fallen ill. Those artists later formed an organization which is today the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). In 1956, the first official Boardwalk Art Show was held. Top prize was $25 and 104 artists participated. Today, Best in show wins $10,000 and the Boardwalk show is ranked as on of the top 100 outdoor art shows in the country.
The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art is a non-profit, non-collecting institution, which means the artwork in the galleries changes every 3-4 months. MOCA's mission is to promote exploration and understanding of the significant art of our time. So while you won't see Old Masters, you're guaranteed to see something cutting edge and different each time you visit! MOCA also offers a variety of educational programs and classes for the community.
